The Nigerian tax guru MRS Olanike Disu dies a day after her birthday

Olanike Disu dies a day after her birthday, bringing a huge shock to many friends and family members who were present at her party.

According to TVC, the popular female tax guru who served as the director at the Lagos Inland Revenue Service died yesterday, September 4, 2017, barely 24 hours after her birthday celebration.

The sudden passing has left her family shocked, especially because Ms. Disu was in good health during her birthday party, and only afterwards did she complain that she was not‘feeling too well’. She was rushed to a private clinic in Lagos, where she sadly died.

In their statement, the members of Council, Management and Secretariat of the Chartered Institute of Taxation Of Nigeria, called her death ‘unfortunate’, while commiserating with her family.

They said:

“[The] unfortunate demise of a member of the Executive Committee of Council, Mrs Olanike Disu, FCTI which occurred today, September 4, 2017. She was the current Chairman of the 2018 Annual Tax Committee (ATC). She was also an Assistant Director with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) until her death. We pray that God will comfort her family and the CITN family, and grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”.

Olanike Disu is survived by two children.

May her soul rest in peace.

America today witnessed it’s first solar eclipse in 99 years.The total solar eclipse began in Oregon at just after 9am.

While the total solar eclipse, where the moon completely blocks out the sun plunging the area into twilight, while be seen from 14 states, the rest will see at least a partial solar eclipse, where the moon covers only a part of the sun. .

In Oregon, locals ran out of their homes, with eclipse glasses or homemade contraptions in hand, to watch the moon fully cover the sun, blotting out all but the halo-like solar corona.

NIGERIAN COMEDIAN Seyilaw Calls For The Immediate Arrest Of Nnamdi Kanu Over Biafra Secret Security Service Inauguration

Nigerian comedian Seyi Law has raised an alarm over IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu’s inauguration of Biafra Secret Service.

The ace Nigerian comedian who wondered when Nnamdi Kanu will be rearrested or when Nigeria’s acting President Yemi Osibanjo will call for a referendum wrote;

UCHENNA ELOH NIGERIAN MAN STRANGLED TO DEATH BY SOUTH AFRICAN POLICEMEN

The Nigerian Union in South Africa on Thursday said that another Nigerian, Mr Uchenna Eloh, has been killed in the Western Cape Province of that country.

Kanayo Onwumelu, Chairman, Western Cape chapter of the union, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone from Cape Town that Eloh was strangled to death by South African policemen.

NAN reports that Eloh hailed from Eziagu in Eziagu Local Government Area of Enugu State.

“We want to call the attention of Nigerian Government to the senseless killing of innocent Nigerians by the police in South Africa.
“At about 11.00 a.m. South African time on Wednesday, a Nigerian, Uchenna Emmanuel Eloh, popularly known as “Monkey’’, was killed by a South African police officer.
“He was walking out of his house toward the bus station when a police van stopped to search him, suspecting that he might be in possession of illegal substance.
“Three policemen accosted Eloh, one of them, by the name Williams, held him on the neck suspecting that he swallowed a substance, while another police officer held him by the legs,’’ he said.

The union official alleged that the policemen dragged Eloh on the ground until he started foaming and suffocated to death on the spot.

“This is not the first time such senseless killing of innocent Nigerians was carried out by South African police officers.
“We have reported similar killings to the South African Government and Nigeria High Commission in South Africa and nothing was done to bring the culprits to book.
“We want the Nigerian Government to intervene to stop this brutality against innocent Nigerians and stop killing Nigerians out of hatred, racism or xenophobia,’’ he said.

Ikechukwu Anyene, President of Nigerian Union in South Africa, who also confirmed the incident, called for an end to the incessant killing of Nigerians in South Africa.

NAN recalls that the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, had in February said that a total 116 Nigerians have been killed in South Africa through extrajudicial means in the last two years.

The presidential aide had said during a meeting with the South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Lulu Louis Mnguni in Abuja that nearly seven in 10 of the killings were carried out by the South African police.

Tension rose at Oduloju street, Sabo- Oniba Ojo Local government of Lagos state on Saturday midnight at around 3a.m as an Abia state man living in the street was was caught in an attempt to fulfill ritual requirements with the daughter of his landlord named Ijeoma by the Nigerian soldiers.

According to NAAIJA, The suspect (Name disclosed as Brother Hyacinth) who lives in a room with his wife and children allegedly owns over five shops with business name ‘A.Y’ in ASPAMDA trade fair complex. Lagos and 7 empty plots of land at Igbede just a bridge across the Oduloju waterlogged area.

This bridge is secured at the Igbede end by soldiers whose Boss is a high ranked officer of the Nigerian army.

According to neighbors, He is a very kind and generous man who has assisted the landlord since he packed in and has offered driving the children to school. he is a deeper lifer and is popularly know as ‘brother’, According to his landlord who has four kids of 3-girls and a boy ‘Papa Ijeoma’, Brother has been of huge financial aid to his family at hard times

An eye witness during the unease told Naaija.com that, the Soldiers who caught him performing the ritual on the bridge heard a recurring chant of incantations with the name Ijeoma and quietly sneaked closer to the direction of the voice, but the suspect noticed their presence and ran away but the soldiers pursued and tracked him to his house where the wife pleaded for mercy but case was subsequently handed over to the Oduloju community.

When the day became bright, the Oduloju communty reported to the Sabo-Ajangbadi police station where the suspect is currently detained.

The police has also searched his house and found nothing implicating although there’s a widespread rumour that the wife is paying off the security persons who visit the house.

Brother Hyacinth, whose wife has been barren for many years of marriage until last year was said to have been in the practice for long until luck departed from him, He was caught wearing the bracelet and pant of the small girl while performing the incantations.

Sultan Of Sokoto said “Rate At Which Girls Are Spending Time On Social Network Is Worrisome”

The Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar, has expressed concern at a development wheresocial media are diverting the attention of students in the country.

Mr. Abubakar expressed the feeling in Sokoto on Sunday at the closing ceremony of the 6th National Edition of the Quranic Recitation Competition.

The Sultan said: “There is a disturbing development where the attention of students is being diverted from their studies. This is through the use of various social media like Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp, 2Go and Instagram, among others.”

The traditional ruler urged youth, particularly girls, to stop spending too much time on social media at the expense of other engagements that would add more values to their life.

“The rate at which girls are spending time on social network is worrisome and this poses imminent danger to our society. Girls are the nerve centre of our moral and societal development and if they derail, the whole society will be in danger because they are our mothers and care givers.”

Mr. Abubakar advised parents to ensure that their daughters spend more time on meaningful things, like reciting the Holy Qur’an. “Doing so will make them better mothers and care givers’’
